How firm a foundation

     G♯         E♯m        G♯            D♯
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
    G♯   C♯       G♯   E♯m    G♯ D♯  D♯7  G♯
Is laid for your faith in His excel-lent word!
 G♯   E♯m         C♯          G♯          D♯
What more can He say than to you He hath said,
    G♯  C♯      G♯ E♯m   G♯/D♯  D♯7      G♯
To you who for refuge to Jes - us hath fled.
       G♯        E♯m         G♯         D♯
"Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed,
    G♯ C♯       G♯  E♯m       G♯    D♯   D♯7  G♯
For I  am your God, and will still give thee aid;
 G♯   E♯m              C♯            G♯            D♯
I'll strengthen thee, help thee and cause thee to stand,
   G♯  C♯     G♯  E♯m      G♯/D♯ D♯7    G♯
Upheld by My righteous, omni - potent hand."
       G♯               E♯m      G♯          D♯
"When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
    G♯    C♯      G♯     E♯m   G♯ D♯  D♯7   G♯
The ri - vers of sorrow shall not o - ver - flow;
 G♯ E♯m        C♯             G♯          D♯
For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,
     G♯ C♯   G♯  E♯m      G♯/D♯  D♯7    G♯
And sanctify to thee thy dee - pest distress."
       G♯            E♯m        G♯            D♯
"When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
    G♯     C♯    G♯ E♯m        G♯ D♯  D♯7  G♯
My grace, all sufficient shall be thy sup-ply;
 G♯  E♯m              C♯          G♯     D♯
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
     G♯   C♯     G♯   E♯m     G♯/D♯ D♯7   G♯
Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine."
      G♯           E♯m        G♯           D♯
"The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose,
   G♯   C♯     G♯  E♯m    G♯  D♯ D♯7  G♯
I will not, I will not desert to his foes;
 G♯   E♯m              C♯            G♯        D♯
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
      G♯  C♯      G♯   E♯m     G♯/D♯  D♯7    G♯
I'll ne - ver, no ne - ver, no nev - er forsake!"
