How firm a foundation

     D♭         B♭m        D♭            A♭
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
    D♭   G♭       D♭   B♭m    D♭ A♭  A♭7  D♭
Is laid for your faith in His excel-lent word!
 D♭   B♭m         G♭          D♭          A♭
What more can He say than to you He hath said,
    D♭  G♭      D♭ B♭m   D♭/A♭  A♭7      D♭
To you who for refuge to Jes - us hath fled.
       D♭        B♭m         D♭         A♭
"Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed,
    D♭ G♭       D♭  B♭m       D♭    A♭   A♭7  D♭
For I  am your God, and will still give thee aid;
 D♭   B♭m              G♭            D♭            A♭
I'll strengthen thee, help thee and cause thee to stand,
   D♭  G♭     D♭  B♭m      D♭/A♭ A♭7    D♭
Upheld by My righteous, omni - potent hand."
       D♭               B♭m      D♭          A♭
"When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
    D♭    G♭      D♭     B♭m   D♭ A♭  A♭7   D♭
The ri - vers of sorrow shall not o - ver - flow;
 D♭ B♭m        G♭             D♭          A♭
For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,
     D♭ G♭   D♭  B♭m      D♭/A♭  A♭7    D♭
And sanctify to thee thy dee - pest distress."
       D♭            B♭m        D♭            A♭
"When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
    D♭     G♭    D♭ B♭m        D♭ A♭  A♭7  D♭
My grace, all sufficient shall be thy sup-ply;
 D♭  B♭m              G♭          D♭     A♭
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
     D♭   G♭     D♭   B♭m     D♭/A♭ A♭7   D♭
Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine."
      D♭           B♭m        D♭           A♭
"The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose,
   D♭   G♭     D♭  B♭m    D♭  A♭ A♭7  D♭
I will not, I will not desert to his foes;
 D♭   B♭m              G♭            D♭        A♭
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
      D♭  G♭      D♭   B♭m     D♭/A♭  A♭7    D♭
I'll ne - ver, no ne - ver, no nev - er forsake!"
