How firm a foundation

     C♭         A♭m        C♭            G♭
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
    C♭   F♭       C♭   A♭m    C♭ G♭  G♭7  C♭
Is laid for your faith in His excel-lent word!
 C♭   A♭m         F♭          C♭          G♭
What more can He say than to you He hath said,
    C♭  F♭      C♭ A♭m   C♭/G♭  G♭7      C♭
To you who for refuge to Jes - us hath fled.
       C♭        A♭m         C♭         G♭
"Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed,
    C♭ F♭       C♭  A♭m       C♭    G♭   G♭7  C♭
For I  am your God, and will still give thee aid;
 C♭   A♭m              F♭            C♭            G♭
I'll strengthen thee, help thee and cause thee to stand,
   C♭  F♭     C♭  A♭m      C♭/G♭ G♭7    C♭
Upheld by My righteous, omni - potent hand."
       C♭               A♭m      C♭          G♭
"When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
    C♭    F♭      C♭     A♭m   C♭ G♭  G♭7   C♭
The ri - vers of sorrow shall not o - ver - flow;
 C♭ A♭m        F♭             C♭          G♭
For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,
     C♭ F♭   C♭  A♭m      C♭/G♭  G♭7    C♭
And sanctify to thee thy dee - pest distress."
       C♭            A♭m        C♭            G♭
"When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
    C♭     F♭    C♭ A♭m        C♭ G♭  G♭7  C♭
My grace, all sufficient shall be thy sup-ply;
 C♭  A♭m              F♭          C♭     G♭
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
     C♭   F♭     C♭   A♭m     C♭/G♭ G♭7   C♭
Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine."
      C♭           A♭m        C♭           G♭
"The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose,
   C♭   F♭     C♭  A♭m    C♭  G♭ G♭7  C♭
I will not, I will not desert to his foes;
 C♭   A♭m              F♭            C♭        G♭
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
      C♭  F♭      C♭   A♭m     C♭/G♭  G♭7    C♭
I'll ne - ver, no ne - ver, no nev - er forsake!"
